Welcome to the new term!
Welcome back The school extends a warm welcome back to all pupils, but especially the new first years. They would also like to thank parents for the tremendous support for the blazer and uniform policy. The pupils look absolutely superb! Achievements Well done to 13 pupils from the academy who achieved five Higher passes in their SQA Examinations. At National 5, results were also excellent, with 16 pupils achieving 6 As. Congratulations to them all! School Captains The School Captain interviews for this session took place at the end of last term, as follows - School Captains: Matthew Geals and Cara McCulloch. Vice Captains: Jake Cocks and Karen Howat. House Captains - Afton: Aileen Harvey – Captain; Jill Andrew and Reanne Lamont – Vice Captains. Ballochmyle: Rachel Howat – Captain; Kirsty Barr and Michael Dalton – Vice Captains; Lochlea: Megan Reid – Captain; Connie Bell and Connor MacMillan – Vice Captains. Mossgiel: Chloe Murdoch – Captain; Lexi Leishman and Matthew Maider – Vice Captains. Congratulations to them all. Sports talent Rebecca Morrison and Frazer Bryden, two S5 pupils in Lochlea House, have been showing extraordinary talent in their chosen sports. During the summer, Frazer played for the Scotland U17 CYP football team which won a tri- nation tournament in Wales, while Rebecca travels with the Scotland U15 basketball team to Spain next week. As well as their sporting achievements, both pupils did extremely well in their recent exams and are studying hard for their Highers this year. The school is very proud of them and wishes them all the best. Reward Trip To celebrate and reward the hard work and success of the new S5/ 6 pupils last session, the academy plans to offer them the chance to visit Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Thursday, September 17, and letters have been issued to pupils this week.
