Jamie will be king of the castle

- Mike McLean

Ticket columnist and man about music, Jamie McGeechan, aka Little Fire, is playing an acoustic set on the main stage at the Best of the West Festival next weekend.

An award- winning singer and songwriter, Jamie has opened for Damien Rice, Joan Armatrading, and many others, and he will be taking to the main stage on Sunday afternoon to play an acoustic set for visitors.

The festival, organised by the Duchess of Argyll, is a familyfriendly celebration of food, drink and music from the West of Scotland in the picturesque grounds of Inveraray Castle on Friday and Saturday, September 12/ 13.

Other live music will come from the likes of Skerryvore, Skipinnish, Peatbog Faeries and many others, with more than 120 home- grown bands on the bill.

With performances in both English and Gaelic, the festival has a strong focus on young talent and the best established performers, with something for everyone to enjoy.

The food side of the festival is something which sees droves of visitors from Scotland and beyond attend - this year Edii Scott will be serving up mouthwatering master classes to celebrate Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink by fusing Thai cooking with Scottish dishes, while stalls featuring the finest Scottish larder will cover the grounds.

Local celebrity chefs will stage a host of cookery demonstrations over the weekend, and the Loch Fyne Whisky marquee is making a return once again. Full details from www.bowfest.co.uk
