Fish are biting

SPRINGWATER FISHERY Fly loch: top rod was Davie Galloway who returned 24 over two visits.

Others: Alex Anderson c/ r six, Woody c/ r six, Davie Howie released five biggest 9lb, Jim Bell c/ r seven, Mark Smith c/ r eight biggest 8lb, Sam Clark four fish for 11lb 4oz and released three.

Bait loch fished well. Brandon Timmons, age seven, from Dailly three fish for 8lb 2oz, Callum McCrone five fish for 13lb 2oz including a brownie of 4lb 4oz, Davie Kernachan five fish for 11lb 8oz, Tigger five fish for 15lb 4oz including a 3lb 8oz brownie.

Coarse loch: top rod goes to wee Geordie who had a great night landing four carp one of 18lb 8oz and a cracker of 21lb 7oz. Colin White caught a carp of 11lb.

Roach, bream and perch are still being caught from the coarse loch. BURNS TROUT FISHERY The PGLA held their open pairs competition with first place going to Bill Boe ( No 290) and Joe Morrison ( visitor) with eight fish for 16lb 10oz.

Second were John Anderson ( No 11) and Dylan Anderson ( visitor) with eight fish for 15lb 4oz. Third were Davie Kirk ( No 0) and John Wren ( No 1662) with eight fish for 13lb 4oz. A total of 64 fish were caught.

The RBLS Cumbernauld Fly Fishing Club also visited and caught 14 fish.

Good luck to the anglers fishing the Broomhill Bonanza semi- final on Saturday and the last round of the Summer League on Sunday. RAITH RESERVOIR Winner of the open competition was Jim Carruthers with a total bag of 26lb 1oz. Runnerup was Jim McHattie with 8lb 10oz.
