“I would like to thank all my team mates I have played with for their availability, commitment and support.

“You guys have been a pleasure to captain. Bring on the Premiership in 2016.”

The Sunday team, fielding seven juniors, restricted Irvine to 164- 8. Ryan Egerton then hit the winning runs in his final game before moving south to see Prestwick home by five wickets with five overs to spare.

On Saturday, Prestwick beat Strathmore in a re- match of Ayrshire’s Scottish Counties Championship triumph of 25 years ago.

Ayr lost to Carlton in the semi final with the visitors scoring 140- 1 in their 20 overs.

In the final, George Watsons scored an imposing 198- 3 which was too much for Carlton.

The juniors had three fixtures last week against Clydesdale. The U11s lost by 12 runs while the U13s lost by 53 runs.

The U18 kept up their title aspirations. Chasing 105, two runs were required off the last ball which Chris Taylor struck to the boundary to win by five wickets.
