Scotland’s Rural College ( SRUC) was formed in 2012 when SAC ( the Scottish Agricultural College) merged with three other prestigious land- based colleges – Oatridge, Elmwood and Barony – to become one of the largest institutions of its kind in Europe.

SRUC is a university- level college offering education and training from entry level right up to PhD in many subject areas.

Degree and Postgraduate qualifications are awarded by the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

At the award- winning Riverside campus in Ayr, courses range from entry level through to degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Applied Bioscience, Countryside Management, Environmental Resource Management, Horticulture, Poultry Production and Renewable and Environmental Technology. As well as first- class teaching facilities, SRUC boasts world- leading research and specialist resources across its six campuses, with access to research farms and veterinary services, specialised laboratories, woodlands and gardens.

SRUC also partnerswith state- of- theart commercial farms within Ayrshire to ensure students have the relevant practical experience to complement their class- based learning.

With an academic staff with industry expertise there are great opportunities for success in the land- based industries for students.

It’s no surprise that 95% of SRUC’s higher- education graduates are in work or further study within six months of graduating.

Career opportunities in the landbased industries and renewables are set to maintain continued growth for employment prospects in the UK and internationally.

Students at the Ayr Campus are offered fantastic opportunities to undertake field trips and placements.

This year’s BSc Agriculture students went on a tour of farms and rural businesses in Northern Ireland, while Countryside Management students have had the exciting opportunity of visiting The Isle of Mull and Isle of Skye to get hands- on involvement in research on the island’s white- tailed eagle populations.

For those wishing to pursue a life less ordinary, SRUC really does offer many fascinating opportunities to study and progress in a career you can be truly passionate about.
