Derby day preview Al l ro a d s l e a d t o Cambusdoon on Saturday for the first league derby of the season between fierce rivals Ayr and Prestwick.

It will be nostalgic occasion with memorial benches being unveiled in tribute to former Ayr stalwarts Ian Masterton and Mike Scott.

Ayr head into the game on the back of another disappointing batting display after suffering a nine wicket hammering at Clydesdale.

The Cambusdoon men were always struggling after winning the toss and occupying the crease, with only Matt Crawshaw ( 20) and Matthew McClymont ( 26) making useful contributions.

They were eventually bowled out for 95.

In reply Clydesdale raced to their target for the loss of only one wicket in 11 overs.

Ayr bounced back on Sunday with a comfortable win at Weirs in the WU40 Cup.

The home team scored 173- 8, with Andi McElnea returning to the fold taking 3- 35.

Neil Smith with 52 was top scorer in the Ayr innings as they won with 11 balls to spare.

Victory gives them a home tie against Dumfries in three weeks’ time.

• The Cambusdoon XI were at home to Titwood on Saturday and their young bowling attack were put to the sword by an experienced visiting batting line up who posted 338- 9.

Lloyd Jefferson was the pick of the home bowlers with 4- 72.

Only Niall McCrossin ( 61) and Callum Henderson ( 37) made any impact on the visitors bowlers as they were bowled out for 179.

• The Development XI recorded a fine victory away to Crow Road.

Chasing the home team’s 164- 3, they reached their target for the loss of only two wickets, Ross Mckelvie top scoring with a fine 82 not out and good support from Matt Crawshaw ( 30) and Matthew McClymont ( 38 n. o).

On Sunday they hosted their Kwik Cricket festival for the U10s with six teams enjoying the early morning sunshine.

• KPM Residential Prestwick made leaders Ferguslie dig deep to maintained their 100 per cent record.

The Wick were bowled out for 176 but Ferguslie clinched a five wicket success at the Henry Thow Oval thanks to Dave Stafford’s 49 not out.

Fraser Macdonald ( 45) and Faisal Jawad ( 48) were again both in the runs and the hosts had Ferguslie on the ropes at one point at 121/ 5.

However, they managed to get home with five wickets and 3.2 overs to spare.

The 2nd XI conceded 262 against the same opposition with Phil Stafford the only bowler to avoid punishmen as his 10 overs went for just 22.

Ferguslie had been pegged back at 120/ 6, leaving Prestwick’s second string to rue a missed opportunity.

They were then dismissed for just 86, with Jake Stafford top scoring on 24.

• The U15s made it three wins from three when they beat Greenock by eight wickets inside eight overs.
