Eaterie’s outdoor bid

South Ayrshire bosses — who have slashed more than £ 9million from public services this year — are continuing to pay a hefty price for their own workers.

And the Post can reveal that a whopping 138 council staff are earning more than £ 50,000 every year.

The figure includes five top brass coining in more than £ 100,000.

Union leaders have slammed the sky- high pay and called for savings to be made on the wage bill before targeting the public.

According to the council’s last posted accounts for 2014- 15, chief executive Eileen Howat is top earner on a whopping salary of £ 126,352.

She comes in just below Prime Minister David Cameron, who earns £ 143,462.

Among the council’s other top earners are fellow exec Lesley Bloomer, who faced criticism last month for trying to win over striking binmen with Maltesers. It could be the hottest outdoor seats in town.

A curry house is the first Indian restaurant to make a bid for outdoor seating.

The long establishe­d Maharani in Troon’s West Portland Street wants to spill out onto the pavement.

The restaurant has applied to South Ayrshire Council to get the outdoor go- ahead.

It is part of a general push to get South Ayrshire outside and follow the lead of Glasgow.

Owner Sukhdev Basi wants a “street cafe” with a row of four tables seating eight.

Planners are still to reach a decision.
