-

Sarah Jane McDonald Prestwick posties have scooped a top award for their hard working efforts.

Family run post office, The Post Box, was hailed as the ‘ Top Performer’ in the Mails Category at the Post Office Network Sales Awards, leading the way out of 11,500 Post Offices throughout Scotland and the North of England.

Owners, Stephen and Cherlene Cooper attended a glittering award ceremony in London to celebrate. They have been running their branch for eight years with daughter Holly, 18, and team member Jennifer Ross.

Stephen told the Post: “We are so proud to have been selected for the top 12 in the whole of the UK.

“Since we took charge, we have seen our post office go from strength to strength.

“With so many things now moving onto online and banks closing, we began providing services to serve our area best and I think we will continue to play a key role within our community.

“I would like to thank everyone that has supported us on our journey so far.”

Post Office Network and Sales Director, Kevin Gilliland added: “We are undertaking the biggest modernisation programme in UK retail history and transforming branches into modern retail outlets.

He s a i d t hat was “r umours” and the event was “going ahead.” He added that the organisers were “happy” with the extra costs. Bars are definitely OPEN for businessasAyrshireprepares to host a golfing extravaganza.
