Even celebs like a good bargain!
Everyone loves to pick up a bit of duty free from Glasgow Prestwick Airport before they fly - even celebrities!
Annette Drutton and Karen Boyd are two of the staff who work in Tax and Duty Free, who aim to make the shopping experience fun.
It offers a comprehensive range of tax and duty free products, including some of the most prestigious brands in the world, with their range including perfumes and cosmetics, drinks, tobacco, fashion and accessories, jewellery and watches, food and confectionery, electronics and children’s toys.
Karen, who lives in Saltcoats, said: “We’ve had lots of celebrities come through over the years - Kevin Bridges is always in, we’ve had Billy Connolly, Elaine C Smith and Susan Boyle. Everyone likes coming in for a look round.”
Annette, from Kilwinning, said: “I’ve been working here for eight years - it’s a good job I really enjoy it.
“You’re always there to help the customers and make sure they find what they need.
“People tend to go for the things we all like, with perfumes and cosmetics, which are among our biggest sellers.
“But our best seller is actually our water!”
The duty free area was revamped last year, and has been a success.
Annette added: “We do a lot of local lines, which are obviously popular with the tourists, as we get a lot of people coming from Spain and Italy.”
It’s not just travellers who benefit, as the public get the chance to bag some bargains twice a year at the duty free sales held on the landside of the airport.
