Sadly, Scotland failed to qualify and our boys have instead had to stay at home and watch the action on TV.

It’s been a good few years since the national football team qualified for a major competition - the World Cup in France in 1998 was the last time we made it .

But when the side, then managed by Craig Brown, headed off to take on Brazil, Norway and Morocco, Prestwick played a part in the Scotland’s World Cup story.

The national team released their World Cup song, Don’t Come Home Too Soon, which was sung by Del Amitri .

In the video, Scotland captain Colin Hendry led members of the Tartan Army through Prestwick Airport . Sadly, the Scots were home after the first round - again!
