Best bit about salon can be hair washing
If there is one thing all clients love when they visit the salon, it has to be the five minutes at the back wash for the shampoo and conditioning treatment.
This is the nicest little bit of pampering , too lay back with the fluffy towels and have your hair washed, warm water running over your head and if your lucky not down your back, there is actually an art too this,
As a 14- year- old working on a Saturday my first job was to shampoo clients although some times the only thing missing was a snorkel as many a time I gave clients a little bit more of a soaking than they bargained for but thankfully there was a tumble dryer and a mop on site.
I’ve even had the misfortune also of accidentally removing drawn on eyebrows and to this day I can’t imagine how I did this but at the time it was taken in good spirit.
It’s amazing how a smile and a sorry can sort a mishap.
All new salon assistants will know first hand how just a simple thing like shampooing can be very nerve wracking - just wait until you have scissors in your hand, you would be very surprised how many clients actually wash their hair on the day of visiting the salon. Even to this day I find it rather odd. From washing our hair to brushing our teeth or washing breakfast dishes and rinsing cups after a coffee to cleaning the kithcen worktops or bigger tasks including our cars that even get a wash and polish, we all just clean clean unknowingly without giving it any thought.
Then of course there is a condition that traps folk for seven hours a day cleaning over and over and I cannot imagine Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the affect it has on your life, And it’s all in a bid to remain clean. So the next time you lay back ready for a relaxing shampoo, remember the assistant is giving your hair a good clean there is a huge variety of shampoos on the market so always ask your stylists advice about which one to use for your hair type as even a change of shampoo can transform your hair.
