Smith and Papps blow East Kilbride away

Neil Smith and Michael Papps needed only 8.4 overs to fire Ayr to a 10 wicket win at East Kilbride.

Batting first, the home team were in trouble from the first over when Scott McElnea removed Singh and Meikle in successive balls.

In his next over, Coetzee became his third victim, followed by Scotland Internatio­nal Iqbal in the following over to leave East Kilbride flounderin­g at 10- 4.

Shujja Khan then got in the act claiming three wickets before McElnea and his brother Andi returned to clean up the tail as East Kilbride were bowled out for 65.

In reply, Ayr made short work of chasing down their total as Smith ( 36) and Papps ( 23) raced to the 66 required. Dumfries in the league while on Thursday they travel to East Kilbride in the Rowan Cup. The Cambusdoon XI are away to Nunholm. On Saturday, the 1st XI travel to Stenhousem­uir while the St Ninians XI entertain The Tryst.
