Great deals on all fronts

-

If you’re planning a late summer break, then Glasgow Prestwick is the place to go if you want a great deal. We’ve got the facts for you. We checked prices on Tuesday morning, July 5, at 10am, to compare flights and travel costs for two adults, looking to fly to Arecife airport in Lanzarote - and the difference was quite stunning.

To fly out in the third week of August from Glasgow Prestwick with Ryanair, the outward flight would cost £ 40.79 per adult, departing on Tuesday, August 16. The price to return a week later, on August 23, is £ 55.99 per adult. That’s just £ 193.56 for your flights.

We compared this cost to depart from another airport in the west of Scotland, and there was a huge price difference. To fly out on Thursday, August 18, the cost is £ 71.99 each for the outbound flight, and £ 99.99 for the return a week later. That’s a total of £ 343.96 - and a price difference of £ 150.40.

When it comes to parking, there’s huge savings to be made at Glasgow Prestwick too. Arriving at the airport for 5am, and departing at 5pm on the day of the return, the best value to be had is the early bird special, which costs £ 38, to park in the terminal long stay car park. There’s an approximate seven minute walk to the terminal building.

Alternativly, if you want to stay in the short term stay carpark just outside the terminal building, using the premium price, it’s £ 59.99, saving £ 84.01, down from the £ 144 price. This has a maximum two minute walk.

To stay in the long stay carpark of the other airport, the cost would be £ 49.99 - and you’d need to take a five minute bus trip to get to the airport.

To park at the short term car park, which has a three minute walk, the cost is £ 79.99.

And if you’re travelling by rail, don’t forget you get half price travel if you show your boarding card.

So there you have it - it’s perfectly clear that Glasgow Prestwick saves you money on every front.
