Meat and greet at the Royal Highland Show
An Ayrshire- based meat processor showcased its products at this year’s Royal Highland Show, thanks to its ongoing supplier relationship with Aldi.
Dunbia Ayr, which is based in Drongan, has been working with Aldi for the past 11 years, supplying the retailer with 19 different fresh pork and beef products.
Employing 4000 staff across 12 sites in the UK and Ireland, Dunbia is one of the UK’s largest red meat processors.
The Ayrshire plant employs around 100 staff with a turnover of £ 25m last year which is expected to grow steadily next year.
Dunbia Ayr is one of 14 producers that showcased their products to thousands of people at Aldi’s Royal Highland Show area across four days.
Jane McHarg, Dunbia general manager in Ayr, said: “We adopt a long- term partnership approach with all our suppliers and have an excellent relationship with Aldi, supplying a full range of pork and beef products.
“Aldi’s commitment to supporting Scottish suppliers is to be congratulated as it helps support our agri- food industry and specifically our farmers.”
Dunbia’s presence at Aldi’s Royal Highland Show area further highlights the retailer’s commitment to stock the best of Scottish produce as part of a home- grown sourcing policy.
Richard Holloway, managing director at Aldi in Scotland, said: “We are very proud to be working with some of the best producers in Scotland showcasing their products at the Royal Highland Show.
“Our relationships with these producers allow us to bring our customers the best Scottish products at everyday low prices and for that reason we hope to continue growing relationships like these across the country.”
