Time to save Station Hotel

-

A visit to Ayr was very enjoyable except for one disappointment - the sight of the Station Hotel.

Surely the fact that the company that owns the building are not bothered at all with taking care of a listed building and leaving it to collapse, means that South Ayrshire Council should take the measure of issuing a compulsory order on it?

I hope that the Station Hotel can be reinstated instead of it being replaced by a car park.

To tourists visiting the area it is a blot on the landscape and yet it can become a very important asset on boosting tourism especially as Robbie Burns is such an important person in the county.

There are some wonderful buildings in Scotland and are so unique yet they are left to rot.

Some towns have wonderful historical connections but not enough is made to promote them to the public.

To me it is such a shame, just look at York and Canterbury they are very busy places especially in the summer and the interest keeps them preserved for future generations.

Here’s hoping much can be done soon rather then left too late.

If our town is treated like an after thought it will become one, I wonder if it will ever change. the special general meeting to a date and time that he could attend.

“The community council also chose to ignore the advice of Dr Claire Monaghan, head of communities for SAC, to accomodate the request for another meeting date.

“Council officers did not carry out their duties correctly in respect of the community council scheme and handbook for community councils ( the blue book) as outlined on page 97”.

On the date of the original hearing ( decided without any consultation with myself as the chair), I was long- term contracted to work in Linwood. I conveyed this fact to the CC. Rather sadly I received no reply.

What happened to me was a mixture of petty jealousy, infantile thinking, political opportunism and blatant back- stabbing to discredit me and my continuing independent campaign in the East Ayr Ward.

Some see me as a threat and have used every opportunity to attempt to blacken my good name and my political standing.

As for those members of the community council, who were once friends and allowed themselves to be associated with this “kangaroo court”, my only comment is, I feel sorry for you.

As for the other bitter, spiteful, SNP members, they should reconsider their positions, given their totally unsubstantitated accusations and socalled evidence completely failed to materialise.

Nevertheless they continued with the farce they were wrongly manipulating. Do the community a huge favour and resign now.

As for me, I have no intention of disappearing.

I have shown through using my own free- time and my own hard earned cash a willingness to do the best I can to improve the lot of the local community and I shall soldier on in such a manner in the sure and certain knowledge that my name has now been cleared and I can once again hold my head up high.

And for that I am grateful for the findings of the investigation put in place by the officers of South Ayrshire Council.
