No place for light weights

Trainers set to face Gold Cup misery

-

ago and who certainly doesn’t have any intended entries between now and September 17 is another Fahey inmate, Growl.

The money continues to pour on Marwan Koukash’s four- year- old who is now a 7- 1 chance with sponsor William Hill.

Dancing Star is 8s while the next best priced runners are 14s.

So my advice is that if you fancy Growl get on before Saturday because if Dancing Star goes close in the Sprint Cup and pulls out of Ayr, the Fahey horse could be as low as 5s by next week.

A horse that will get a run from high in the weights is Ascription, recently sold out of the Hugo Palmer yard at the Horses In Training Sale to Keith Dalgleish.

It will run in the colours of Middleham Park Racing and, although out of action for almost a year, has some extremely good form. If Keith can work his magic and get this fella to the course who knows what could happen. He is as high as 40s.

One horse set to run at York on Sunday, who I think will use the race as a stepping stone to Ayr, is the Michael Dods trained Glen Moss.

Formerly trained by David Brown, this seven- year- old is good on his day and won a conditions race at Haydock earlier in the season before flopping in a Group 3 at York.

I just feel that Dods knows the time of day with his sprinters and will have Glen Moss primed for a big run in the Gold Cup with Paul Mulrennan riding.

Setting his sights lower, Michael thinks his Ocean Sheridan, a winner at Thirsk on Friday, could be a Bronze Cup or possibly Silver Cup horse.

So things are certainly winding up down Craigie way as the big Festival draws closer and a reminder that the Saturday is heading for a sell out.
