Hello folks I hope you’re doing well.

Last week I was at Live@ Troon. I’ve been going since its inception and it’s been great to see the festival develop.

This year it felt like there was a great focus on grassroots music, particularly from Ayrshire which is something I’m keen to see increase at festivals across Ayrshire.

There have been festivals and events which have got this right and some which have eschewed local talent in favour of X Factor castoffs. My thinking would be if you provide support and opportunities to local bands and performers then you will be greeted with a local crowd.

With sterling performances, the Futures Stage was a window into the future of music and these Ayrshire acts strutted their stuff with a point to prove. I thought the Saturday concert at Troon Concert Hall was really interesting with its mix of Ayrshire acts Crash Club and Soldier On in support of Hector Bizerk and Colonel Mustard. I do think there should have been more thought as to the headliners with Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5 inevitably stealing the show leaving the atmosphere feeling a bit flat by the time Hector Bizerk came on for their penultimate show. Their loyal fans lapped the vitriolic energy up even if I felt that Colonel Mustard should have closed the proceedings.

A fantastic night of brilliant and energetic music rounding off an incredible weekend in Troon.

Orthodox, The Tripps and DJ Ciar McPherson will be taking to the stage at Harley’s in Ayr this Sunday 18th September for a Bank Holiday Special.

DJ Ciar said: “This night is going to be a cracker, it was just an idea I had in my head had a few months ago and after speaking to the manager Funky at Harleys we have made it happen.

“I thought lets give this a go and I’ll continue the party DJ’ing the best of Mod, Northern soul, Indie and Rock n Roll afterwards. It’s set to be quite the party and I’m looking to do more nights with other local bands.”

A few months ago on my way to Ibiza I bumped into Ayrshire producer Danny Paton as he was heading over to make music with renowned DJ Jack Eye Jones.

Ayrshire native Danny, who goes by the alias ‘ PATON’, is on the cusp of a promising career. He has just released his debut single, Waiting My Whole Life, on Jack Eye Jones’ label IBZ Records. It has since been mixed in Jack’s Los Angeles studio and has evolved into a superb collaboration from the dynamic pair.

The new track features remixes by D- Wayne, who comes from Afrojack’s label, Wall Records and Bolier from Spinnin’ Records.

Upon request, PATON also did a special takeover mix for Jack Eye Jones Ibiza Sessions podcast. Aptly titled PATON Takeover, the mix reached number five on the iTunes UK dance podcast charts.

PATON said: “It has been an amazing experience and I’m happy my music is out there with Jack Eye Jones name behind it. This is still the beginning of my career however but the experience has really inspired me to work harder and continue my music journey.” Until next time, @ LittleFire
