Very hoppy to win crown
He’s got big ears, a soft white and brown coat and a twitchy nose.
Now Cream has become a superstar in the bunny world and is lapping up the attention.
The three- year- old buck has been crowned Pet of the Year in the Bupa Care Awards 2016.
That is no mean feat considering there are more than 300 Bupa homes in the UK.
He beat off stiff competition in the London final from two dogs in England and another called Chuck from Rutherglen.
Cream is always certain of attention at the Bupa- run Claremont Care Home in Ayr.
The home is on a high after winning three UK awards at the ceremony in the capital earlier this month.
Brian Girvan and Jim Faulds won the Maintenance and Gardening trophy and head housekeeper Margaret Murray triumphed in her category.
But it was the rabbit that can claim the headlines.
As well as his trophy, he was given a goodie bag full of bunny treats.
Claremont manager Carol Barr said: “Cream is always spoiled, but he is getting even more attention now.
“The only one who does not seem to be fussed is Cream himself.”
Cream is the sole pet at Claremont after his brother Coffee passed away.
He has a double height hutch but is also given the run of the rabbit- proof residents’ courtyard to nibble on real grass.
Carol said: “He is a real focus of attention for the residents and staff.
“Cream has a great character, is very laid back and lets people pet him.
“In fact I think it would be a great idea for other care homes to get a pet.
” We are delighted at taking home three awards from London, which was not expected.
“As well as their trophies, Brian, Jim and Margaret also received vouchers.”
Claremont has 80 residents and is one of 11 Bupa care homes in Scotland.
