Sarah Jane McDonald An Ayr schoolboy has become an online sensation - after dressing up as his council boss mum.

Mischievous Lucas Elliott went viral online after he was snapped clutching bottles of booze, disguised in a blue jacket, matching blue hat, print dress and tartan scarf - wearing his mother’s South Ayrshire Council employee badge around his neck.

The real owner of the badge, Joan Elliott, works as a cultural planning project officer at South Ayrshire Council.

And the Facebook prank got thousands laughing and has had 23,000 shares online just days after being posted.

However, the Belmont Academy pupil later told a website that the bottle of vodka and MD 20/ 20 was really his 19- year- old cousin’s and that him and his pals put the snap online for retweets.

The viral post read: “The bold yin used his maws ID for a cargo and dressed up as her”.

And comments included everything from praise to shocked disbelief.

Janet Kemp said: “See how easy it is for youngsters to buy alcohol”

Gordon Mclean laughed: “Lol, thats him ‘ well caught’. You’re gettin’ grounded!”

Ross Mason commented: “Brilliant work but he looks like he is enjoying too much.”

Conor Knox added: “This is the best thing I’ve seen on Facebook since the beginning of Facebook!”

Last year, mum Joan scooped a top award at South Ayrshire Council’s Outstanding People Awards after helping a woman attend the Great Tapestry of Scotland which was exhibited in Ayr by pushing her wheelchair for her.

And she also made special arrangements for a women’s mental health group to visit the tapestry and take part in a closed workshop which they thoroughly enjoyed.

The Post contacted the cheeky teenager, who said he did not wish to comment at this time.

A South Ayrshire Council spokesperson added: “We are aware of this prank and will be speaking to the employee.”
