We’re only here...

There’s a fantastic party on tap in Troon this weekend as the Ayrshire Real Ale Festival rolls into town.

The annual beer bash will take over the Concert Hall and Walker Hall as ale fans celebrate all things pilsner, bitter and stout.

Graeme Watson from the Campaign for Real Ale said: “There’s absolutely nothing else like it in Ayrshire.

“You’ll never see that number of beers under one roof in Ayrshire at any other time, and there will be beers that are extremely difficult to find in Scotland, never mind Ayrshire.

“There will be award winning beers on show, with seven or eight just from CAMRA alone as well as other organisations.”

As well as the award- winning pints, organisers have lined up a whopping 150 ales, as well as traditional cider, perry and wine for revellers.

And to celebrate Troon hosting The Open earlier this year, organisers have set up a brand new Birdie Bar in honour of the top tournament.

But you won’t find any beers named after crowd favourite Andrew ‘ Beef’ Johnston – for the “birdie” refers to our feathered friends.

All the ales on offer in the Birdie Bar bear an avian theme, including CAMRA’s 2016 Champion Winter Ale of Britain, Dark Drake from the Dancing Duck brewery in Derby.

As well as the top selection of beverages, organisers have also lined up a weekend of fantastic entertainment to keep crowds going.
