MSP’s in the to help raise breast cancer money

An Ayrshire politician has gone pink to show her support for women battling breast cancer.

Jeane Freeman, MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, is supporting the UK’s biggest, brightest and most colourful fundraiser on Friday, October 21.

The Wear It Pink Day is back for its 15th year, calling on supporters across the country to add a flash of colour to their wardrobe for the day.

Funds will be raised for Breast Cancer Now’s lifesaving research.

Ms Freeman said: “Breast Cancer Now’s cutting edge research is making a huge difference.

“But we all need to join forces and act now, to do our bit to stop women dying from breast cancer by 2050.

“I’m fully behind the charity’s ambition and I support wear it pink.” The Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival will host events this week in conjunctio­n with World Mental Health Day held on October 10, hosting events in Ayrshire until October 31.

To mark the occasion, the Book and Bun at 50 Newmarket Street will show a variety of films. Times are as follows: Wednesday, October 12, 1pm- Silver Linings Playbook Friday, October 14, 5.30pm- As Good as it Gets Saturday, October 15, 11am- One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest Saturday, October 15, 2.30pm- Inside Out Tuesday, October 18, 4pm- My Name is Sam Friday, October 21, 5.30pm- My Name is Joe Saturday, October 22, 3pm- Still Alice Sunday, October 23, 2.30pm- Iris The venue will be open prior to the film starting, with tea, coffee, popcorn and baking on offer and will feature an art exhibition provided by Brush Strokes.
