Gr- eight show as Marr stay on course
Musselburgh ...... 17, Marr ...................... 50 Another glory weekend for Marr Rugby with the 1s scoring eight tries to beat Musselburgh and the 2s grabbing 15 as they ran up a century of points against Dalziel.
Marr’s pack was rampant at Musselburgh and provided a perfect platform from which Gregor Ness was able to release the back line.
Angus Johnston crashed through from short range to score in the corner after only three minutes. That was quickly followed by Gregor Paxton.
The hosts replied with a penalty but the ball was spread wide and Scott Bickerstaff ( sponsored by McKay’s Bar) was unstoppable as he sped in to score.
Musselburgh reduced the deficit to seven points with a penalty and converted try but within two minutes Marr hit back with a second Scott Bickerstaff try followed by a Rory McGee touchdown.
The resurgent hosts grabbed a converted try but on 60 minutes Marr pounced on a rare error. Colin Sturgeon collected and raced 50 metres, offloading to Scott Bickerstaff. As Scott was tackled just short of the line, he popped the ball up to Colin who finished the move he started with a try.
