College is de voted to fitness plan
Ayrshire College has been acclaimed at the Herald Society Awards in Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel for the impressive amount of high quality partnerships it has established.
The College picked up the ‘ Partnership Award’ at the ceremony in recognition of thriving partnerships that currently exist between Ayrshire College and anti- sectarian charity Nil By Mouth, disability sport charity Ayrshire Sportsability, and aeronautical engineering company Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance Limited.
The judges were also impressed by the HIVE Summer Programme - organised in partnership with the three local council areas and Employability Enterprise - which allowed students to attend college over the school break.
After the result was announced on the College’s Twitter account, Nil By Mouth campaign director Dave Scott tweeted “Richly deserved - one of the best educational establishments in the country.”
Sport and Fitness lecturer David Dougan was also shortlisted at the Herald Society Awards for the ‘ Campaigner Award’, while the College was also represented in the ‘ Environmental Award’ category for the ‘ Park Life’ project at Dean Castle Country Park.
Sport and Fitness students provided nutritional advice and fitness tests, while promoting physical activity by giving advice on alternative active travel options.
