Natasha set to shine

Sarah Jane McDonald An Ayrshire College student is preparing to attend a glittering award ceremony this week after being shortliste­d for the 2016 Scottish Qualificat­ions Authority Star Awards.

Natasha Ker r, f rom Catrine, has been tipped as a finalist for the College Candidate of the Year Award. After recently achieving an HND in Sports Coaching and Developmen­t, hardworkin­g.

Natasha reaches out to over 200 young people every week across East Ayrshire through her volunteeri­ng and sports coaching activities, giving over 800 hours of her time every year to support the local community. And she is set to join fellow

Snominees at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh on Friday, November 11 for the grand ceremony. receiving recognitio­n for her outstandin­g efforts.

On her nomination, she told the Post: “There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that you have helped children improve their skills, increase their ability, but most importantl­y, seeing the smiles on their faces knowing that they are happy and enjoying themselves.”

SQA Chief Executive, Dr Janet Brown added: “The awards give us a chance to thank those who give our learners the guidance, support, and encouragem­ent they need to realise their potential.”

The Star Awards recognise both the individual­s who work towards and the organisati­ons that deliver SQA qualificat­ions.
