Plight of Gongo is a new film
AnAyrshire Film Company will be premiering a new documentary by Irvine man Eddy Gemmell.
The documentary charts the remarkable journey of a dog called Gongo.
Gongo is a street dog from Tanzania.
And unfortunately, suffered horrendous cruelty and lost his right hind leg due to a machete attack.
He was treated in Tanzania by Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue.
There were fears for his life as the injury was so severe.
But he needed extensive dental work which was not available in Tanzania.
He has further ongoing health issues which need more surgery with significant costs.
And it was for these reasons Phyllis Hutchison from Glasgow, a major fundraiser for Mbwa Wa Africa in Scotland, decided to adopt Gongo and bring him back to Scotland.
The film documents the remarkable journey of both Gongo and Phyllis.
Entry to the premiere is open to all at the GRO Coffee Café, 142 Harbour Street, Irvine this Saturday, November 19 at 7pm.
GRO Coffee is a dog friendly cafe whichwelcomes four legged friends with their owners all year round.
Dogs will be made welcome to the premier of the documentary on Saturday too.
Friends of Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue are fundraising to help build a new animal clinic in Tanzania.
