David Page and Patrick Healy, aged 25 and 28, were found by officers in a house at in the town’s Kirkland Street at around 8pm on Monday.

Tributes have been paid to the two men on social media.

Patrick’s mother Julie Westran shared a picture of her son on Facebook and hundreds paid their respects to the well- liked best friends.

“The whole of Maybole is in shock at two of the most well known and loved faces no longer being with us.”

Donna Dunlop added: “The whole town is in mourning, they were two great boys and loved by everyone.”

And Kayleigh Haggo tweeted: “Still can’t believe the news that I’ve woken up to this morning.

“Such a sad night for Maybole, R. I. P. boys. You will be missed by so many.”

Both David and Patrick were well known locally, with many people posting to say how much they will be missed by the whole town.
