Effort under way

- Carrick Academy

Carrick Academy is holding an inter- house challenge to invite pupils to make a difference.

They are gathering in warm clothing ( adult size) such as warm jackets, warm hats, gloves, scarves and warm socks.

The clothing that is handed in will be given to homeless and vulnerable people through the homeless charity Emmaus.

In addition, they are looking for donations of tinned fruit, tinned custard, tinned vegetables, tinned hot meals ( stew, mince, chili, bolognese, curry) and UHT milk.

The food that is donated will be going to Maybole food bank in conjunction with South Ayrshire food bank.

All donations should be handed into the rugby building at Carrick Academy between now and Friday, December 2.

Meanwhile, Provost Helen Moonie visited Carrick Academy to meet with some of the young people.

Kieran Robb and Lewis Burns, school captains, took the Provost on a tour of the school, sharing the school’s success, history and traditions.

She then met with Declan Gardner, Harry Broun, Lewis Burns, Elysia McConnell, Katie Boyd, Holly MacDonald and Kieran Robb, who shared the work they had undertaken with Pupil Voice.

The Provost then shared her knowledge of the council and how they operate, and she also discussed the role that she undertakes.
