Your guide to the best gigs in Ayrshire

-

December is already upon us – and it brings with it a whole host of musical talent across Ayrshire.

Radio 2 Folk Artist of the Month Blue Rose Code are one of this week’s top picks as the singer- songwriter heads to Irvine’s Harbour Arts Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The acclaimed artist, also known as Edinburgh- born Ross Wilson, is destined for bigger stages – making his intimate Ayrshire show a truly special occasion.

The hard- working team at Darvel Music Festival have two fantastic nights of live music in the town this weekend, as they continue to celebrate 15 years of the festival.

On Friday night Celtic rockers Skerryvore headline, joined by Socks in the Frying Pan and the Colin Kennedy Band.

And on Saturday, former Silencers frontman JJ Gilmour leads a terrific line- up alongside Dropkick, First Charge of the Light Brigade and the Railwaymen. Prestwick’s Elliots bar plays host to Dave Sharp, former frontman of influential new wave outfit The Alarm, on Friday night, with support from Louis Jenkins and Ken O’Hara from 9pm.

And as always, there’s a fantastic selection of open mics, jam sessions, and acoustic nights to keep you busy throughout the week.
