Four win call- up for U25 Scotland ladies

Four Ayrshire bowlers are in the Scotland ladies under 25 internatio­nal team for the Home Internatio­nals at Wales in February.

Prestwick duo Rebecca Houston and Dawn Anderson are joined by Stephanie Wallace ( Auchinleck) and Natalie Kyle ( Ardrossan) after coming through a trial at Cumbernaul­d.

Meanwhile, Auchinleck teams scored a winning hattrick.

The seniors beat Ayr 73- 50 at home. Scores: W McArthur 16, D McKie 13; E Duncan 22, R Lang 8; J Fleming 17, S Wylie 17; S Graham 18, G Jack 12.

The gents beat Stirling 98- 60 at home. Scores: D McClue 20, D McCormick 21; J Gibson 18, G Malcolmson 15; D Ferguson 20, B Stillie15; G Johnstone 40, G Craig 9.

The ladies beat Prestwick 9972 away. Scores: M Shimmons 26, W Ogilvy 24; J Williamson 26, B Hainey 16; H Smith 28, C Lawson 15; H Kay 19, D Anderson 19.

Josephine Williamson lost her match in the ladies senior singles to Jeanette Weadon of Galleon at East Kilbride.

On Saturday, the seniors travel to play Galleon. Rink 1: D Monaghan, C Provan, D Weir, W McArthur; Rink 2: D Jagodowski, B Lopez, R Dunsmuir, J Fleming; Rink 3: S Rowan, D Mitchell, W McLatchie, S Graham; Rink 4: J Sloan, C Cathie, J McCracken, E Duncan.

In the playdowns of the SIBA national triples, Sandy Graham, Graeme Falconer and Jim Burns play Headwell while Josephine Williamson, Bunty Mackin and Coleen Cowie take on Allander, both at Whiteinch at 9.30am.

Baird Bowl: Mauchline 2, Glaisnock Valley 4; Auchinleck Outdoor 5, Galston 1; Cumnock 6, Auchinleck Indoor 0.

Sunday’s ties: 11- 1pm: Glaisnock Valley v Auchinleck Outdoor; Cumnock v Sorn.

The junior section will send a rink to SYIBA Dales Fours at Stirling. Games start at 10am.

Prestwick seniors gained their first two points on the road with a 70- 58 victory at the West of Scotland thanks to wins for rinks skipped by John Lindsay, Stan Gibson and Morris Sturgeon. On Saturday, the seniors entertain East Kilbride.

The gents lost 69- 50 away to Cowal with Craig Lindsay guiding his rink to a narrow victory.

The ladies lost 99- 72 at home to Auchinleck. Dawn Anderson skipped her rink to a draw with the three other teams beaten.

This weekend the SIBA national triples take place at various venues. Darren Weir, Andrew Weir and Craig Lindsay take on Blantyre on Saturday morning while Alison Granger, Louise Noon and Dawn Anderson are against Ayr on Saturday afternoon, both at East Kilbride.

Sunday sees the SYIBA Fours at Stirling with Prestwick represente­d by Rebecca Houston, Adam Sturgeon, Ross Gouldstone and Jordan Law.

Ayr seniors lost 73- 50 at Auchinleck to end their chances of qualifying for the play- offs.

Rink scores: E Duncan 22, R Lang 8; S Graham 18, G Jack 12; J Fleming 17, S Wyllie 17; W McArthur 16, D McKie 13.

The gents lost by the same margin going down by 80- 57 at home to Midlothian despite two winning rinks.

In the second round of the national ladies senior singles at East Kilbride on Sunday, Val O’Neill lost 21- 4 to F Haxton of Paisley while the ladies senior pair beat Prestwick 19- 15 in the second round before losing 13- 15 to Paisley in the quarterfin­al.

On Saturday, the senior gents host Dumbarton at 11am, spectators welcome.

In the national triples, the ladies face Prestwick in a first round tie. The gents triple have no game until Sunday due to the withdrawal of Irvine. They face a second round tie against Inverclyde or West of Scotland, also at East Kilbride.
