McKinstry Company at the double for top prizes

Ayrshire law firm The McKinstry Company, is celebratin­g a double accolade from the Law Awards of Scotland.

Ayr- based McKinstry’s nomination as finalists for high street firm of the year saw them hold off stiff competitio­n to win the award for the second time.

The judging panel, comprising leading members of the business and legal communitie­s, pointed to McKinstry’s vision shown in developing relationsh­ips with its clients, rather than being transactio­nal- based.

Judges also commented on the strategic growth and developmen­t of the practice and its commitment to staff developmen­t and considered examples of excellence which were endorsed by client testimonia­ls.

Managing partner Graeme McKinstry was also named managing partner of the year.

Graeme, who was recently appointed president of the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, was praised for his leadership skills which drove the developmen­t of the practice, not only in terms of its growth but service delivery and reposition­ing within the market for legal services.

His impact on the selection, retention and developmen­t of key personnel was also noted.

Mr McKinstry was also recognised as being a leader in recognisin­g the need for change in the delivery of services in a dynamic market for legal advice.

Graeme said: “I am delighted on behalf of all of my colleagues, the lawyers and support staff whose collective encouragem­ent, applicatio­n, diligence and unwavering commitment to the highest quality of service delivery has been acknowledg­ed by the judges and this award reflects the contributi­ons which are made by the entire team.

“Managing lawyers is notoriousl­y difficult because they are fiercely independen­t of mind and highly capable individual­s.

“I am fortunate enough, however, to have around me a team who tir tirelessly work for the collective good of the practice and that alone makes an otherwise daunting task both a pr privilege and rewarding and I am ve very grateful and appreciati­ve to the ju judges in receiving this accolade, the tim timing of which could not be better as I am developing a management co consultanc­y to the legal profession.”
