Success for Prestwick teen

Rebecca Houston was part of the winning team that claimed the World Indoor Under 25 Mixed Triples title.

The Prestwick teenager teamed up with Eric Galipeau ( Canada) and Dominic McVittie ( England) to claim the title, winning 2- 0 on sets in the final at Glasgow Indoor.

Prestwick seniors finished their league campaign in fourth after a 69- 66 win away to section winners Paisley. Stan Gibson, Morris Sturgeon and Alex Thomson all guided their rinks to victory.

Prestwick Ladies are still looking for their first Premier League win after losing 82- 75 at Paisley.

The gents suffered their first home defeat, losing 92- 73 at home to a strong Dumbarton side who are now joint top of the section.

Darren Weir qualified for the semi finals of the Under 18 singles at Aberdeen in March after coming through at the regional playdowns at East Kilbride on Sunday.

Darren beat Blair Davidson ( Ardrossan) 15- 4 to claim his semi final spot and the chance to retain the title he claimed last year.

This weekend sees the national pairs playdowns at various venues across the country with both the ladies and gents travelling to Inverclyde.

Craig Lindsay and Paul Foster take on Glasgow in the first round while Sally Kennedy and Jean Bunyan face Dumbarton on Saturday, also at 9.30am.

Paul Foster returned from the Outdoor World Championsh­ips in Christchur­ch with two bronze medals. He teamed up with Alex Marshall in the pairs and joined Ronnie Duncan, Iain McLean and Marshall in the fours.
