Driving home for Christmas

-

An Ayr couple were driving home for Christmas in a new car, after winning the vehicle in an Ayrshire Hospice raffle.

The stunning Vauxhall Viva was won by Evans and Anne Connelly from Arrol Drive, who went along with their daughter and grandson, Jane Gray and Logan, to the Kerr and Smith dealership in Cumnock to receive their brand new car.

Mrs Connelly said: “I was overwhelmed when I heard we had won the car as we’ve never won anything before.

“You buy these tickets but never expect to win. It’s a lovely wee car and it was presented so beautifully. The hospice staff and Kerr and Smith were so lovely.”

Kerr and Smith co- sponsored this year’s raffle along with Garrocher Tree Farm who kindly donated the second prize of £ 1000, as well as some beautiful Christmas trees.

The annual Ayrshire Hospice Christmas raffle generates sizeable funds for the hospice every year and buying raffle tickets is a popular way to support the local charity with a chance to win some fabulous prizes.

Ron Swanson, assistant fundraising manager at Ayrshire Hospice said: “We have been delighted with the response to this year’s raffle thanks to the kindness of our wonderful supporters across Ayrshire.

“We are truly grateful to all of our prize donors and particularly Kerr and Smith and Garrocher Tree Farm for sponsoring such fantastic prizes that have captured everyone’s imagination. We have raised over £ 43,000 in sales for this year’s Christmas raffle and would like to thank our incredible community for their fabulous support.”
