South Ayrshire Council is progressing capital projects worth more than £ 94million.

The vast majority is funding on schools and will be completed in the next 18 months.

As well as the £ 37m Marr College spend ( see pages 14- 15 for an exclusive look inside the new building), the new Ayr Academy is the next most costly at £ 25m.

Tarbolton Community Campus with an £ 8.2m spend is due to complete next month.

Dailly Primary’s £ 3.8m build will be finished in March and extensions to Annbank Primary and Troon Primary School will be completed in the first half of the year.

A new Invergarven School in Girvan will also commence works on site in spring 2017 as will a £ 1.1m upgrade of Kingcase in Prestwick.

Other projects include extensions to existing cemeteries in Ayr and Troon - costing £ 1.1m - and the delivery of a new build children’s home in Coylton.

Troon Golf Clubhouse refurbishment will also be completed shortly as will the new Quay Zone pool complex in Girvan.

Councillor Robin Reid, South Ayrshire Council’s resources head, said the programme of work marked the busiest ever period.

He said: “In the next 12 months we’ll see a major package of projects delivered for people across South Ayrshire that will transform facilities for thousands of people.

“Capital projects like these are complex to deliver but I’m pleased to say all our projects remain on track to be delivered on time and to original budgets. I’m confident these new facilities will be welcomed.”
