Carer sexually assaulted

Man ( 56) on sex offenders register

- Sarah Hilley

A pervert exposed himself to a young carer.

Allan Love sexually assaulted the woman while she was hired to keep him company at his Northfield Avenue home.

Love, 56, grabbed her by the buttocks, kissed her cheek and exposed his genitals on December 6.

Lawyer Quinton Muir said Love was intellectually impaired and received a care support package. The young woman was sent to support his care needs, Ayr Sheriff Court heard last week.

Mr Muir said he was unsure why a single young female was sent unaccompanied.

He said: “That is the background for how this opportunity arose.”

He explained how a “mature male” now attends on Love, removing the “prospect of a repeat” occurrence.

Describing the incident, he said: “This young lady came to his house and sat to speak to him. He enjoyed that. I can’t tell you why this day was any different.”

Mr Muir described it as an “impulsive action.”

Unemployed and single Love was instantly sorry after he pounced, the court heard.

Mr Muir said: “He accepts it was entirely inappropriate.

“He tried immediately to apologise.”

The solicitor said the situation was nipped in the bud. He added: “It is a difficult case. He apologises unreservedly.”

S h e r i f f M h a i r i MacTaggart added Love to the sex offenders register for 18 months. He was ordered to undergo community supervision for the same period.
