Dedicated fundraisers thanked

-

A hardworking manager raised a whopping sum for charity - for the last time as boss.

Inspirational Elizabeth Wilson was behind the Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning at Bield’s housing development in Glebe Court, Cumnock, which raised £ 1100.

Elizabeth, who has been running the coffee morning fundraisers since 1994, thanked the staff and service users after banking over £ 12,000 for the cancer charity over two decades on the job.

Elizabeth looked back fondly on her time at Glebe Court, and said: “I started here as the manager in May 1994 and held our first coffee morning that September.

“Macmillan has been a charity close to our hearts as we have had staff who have survived and my own husband who we sadly lost five years ago.

“This was my last one as manager but I’m sure I’ll be at many more as a volunteer after I retire in the summer.”

The busy morning meet regularly attracts familiar faces throughout Cumnock and organisers give thanks to everyone who came along to this year’s event.

Ayrshire fundraising manager, Laura Stockwell added: “We are so grateful for this donation.

“No one should have to face cancer alone and with support like this, they won’t have to.

“This donation will go a long way to helping us be there for people with cancer and their families.”
