“We’ve lost only once in the last 15 games but the disappoint­ing thing is that other teams will now have the chance to catch up in the league.”

McEwan is banking on new recruit Billy Peacock playing a key role after he lost player- coach Kieran McAnespie to Clydebank as manager.

He said: “Billy was in Renfrew’s Scottish Cup winning team and will be worth his weight in gold. He will be much more than just our goalie coach.”
