Pervert sent teenage girls sexual messages

-

Sarah Jane McDonald A pervert who sent sexual messages to teenage schoolgirls has avoided prison.

Hugh Taylor, 31, of Dalfarson Avenue, Bellsbank, pled guilty at Ayr Sheriff Court after he was caught repeatedly sending perverse messages to a 15- year- old and a 13- year- old online between September 22 and September 29 last year.

Taylor, who has since suffered a stroke, sat in the dock with crutches, told the court he accepted what he did was wrong.

Representing him, lawyer Gregor Forbes said: “Mr Taylor appreciates that he acted in an unacceptable manner.

“He has since suffered from a serious stroke which has caused him some mobility difficulties.

“In the present situation, given the nature of the offence, there is not a concern he will come into contact with the complainers as he resides with his parents.”

Sentencing him, Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart said: “This is an extremely unfortunate incident but a serious one.

“If the messages had contained any more detail of a sexual element, you would be facing a custodial sentence.”

Taylor has been placed on the sex offenders register for 18 months and is subject to a supervision order for 18 months.

He has additionally been handed a non- harassment order and will be required to carry out unpaid work as an alternative to prison.
