Tilly’s legacy will now live on

Mum is supporting the BUYMSH

- Stuart Wilson

The memory of tragic Tilly Sharkey is to live on in a new respite home for sick kids.

Kind- hearted family members are donating £ 20,000 from her charity fund to the BUYMSH cause.

Ayr girl Tilly died in November aged just five following a brave battle with a brain tumour.

Now cash from her fund will help the group bidding to erect a purpose- built base for children with life limiting illnesses.

They received the vital boost ahead of this Sunday’s Valentine’s Dip on Prestwick shore.

Tilly’s mum Michelle said: “I first heard about BUYMSH when we were going through everything with Tilly.

“It is a very important cause and one we really wanted to get involved with.

“Now Tilly’s memory will live on as part of the new house.”

Michelle, who is joining the BUYMSH team as a volunteer, will be joined by family and friends at this Sunday’s Dip.

Hordes will line up on the sand before plunging into sea to raise money for the new home.

The charity’s Maxine Allan said: “Losing a child to cancer or any illness is something no parent should ever have to endure.

“Princess Tilly’s parents; Michelle and Lewis, and her sister Taylor have been so inspirationally strong mainly due to the support of family and friends, and an amazing community.

“We are honoured to accept this very kind donation in Princess Tilly’s memory, towards building a new respite house in Ayrshire.

“We hope Tilly will be very much remembered in this new beginning and that her parents can feel part of this journey.

“We are also very delighted to welcome Michelle as a volunteer to the charity; her inner strength and commitment wi l l b e invaluable to us.

“Hopefully our charity work, and working together as a team will give Michelle a sense of purpose, after what can only be one of the most difficult experiences an individual can be faced with in life.”

Registration for Sunday’s event begins at 1pm, with the Dip starting at 1.45pm.

Live music, featuring Just Like Eddie, will be on offer in the RAFA Club once dippers have dried off.
