Air event strikes top travel deal

This year’s Scottish Airshow is set to fly even higher after unveiling a partnershi­p with a top Ayrshire travel agent.

Show bosses have agreed a deal with independen­t firm Thorne Travel to sell the event to visitors from across the UK.

Based in Kilwinning, Thorne are putting together Scottish tour packages which will include travel, hotel and tickets to the family or VIP areas of September’s show.

Customers will be able to travel to Ayr from points all over the UK.

The Airshow is entering its fourth year and has already become Scotland’s biggest family event with180,000 expected to attend this year.

Airshow director Doug Maclean said: “We are always looking at ways of improving the experience for our guests and are delighted to team up with a great Scottish Travel Agent to bring more people into the heart of Ayrshire.”

Thorne Travel company owner, Shona Thorne, added: “As a business we send people all over the world to see some amazing sights.

“We have realised from the number of overseas customers that we currently book to travel across the world they are increasing­ly looking to travel to Scotland.

“Ayrshire has the most amazing coastline, countrysid­e, castles, whisky and food tours – what’s not to love?

“This will allow us to showcase the best of the west in Scotland as well as The Scottish Internatio­nal Airshow.

“We are so excited to bring people from all over the world to our special home Ayrshire.”
