Fitness with an elastic twist to it

-

Like me you probably haven’t heard of 4 D Pro.

It’s hard to explain the concept, but if you are a fitness fan, you may have heard of TRX training.

Those tough nylon straps that you fix to the wall and perform your core stability, strength and toning moves with.

Well imagine those bands are now elasticated, and suspended from the ceiling, like bungee cords.

Participants at the classes are measured for the cords individually, then strapped in tight as the workout begins.

Initially, there seems to be a lot of fun involved, as class members seem to be enjoying sitting in their harness and bouncing around, however it’s short lived, as soon they are sprinting against the cords, performing handstands and press ups, often at the same time, and flying Superman style while trying to maintain their core.

At the heart of the workout seems to be a core strength requirement.

Some of the moves have you suspended while trying to remain as flat and parallel with the floor as possible.

Almost like doing the plank but without the aid of your arms.

Other moves see eager attendees performing more vigorous cardio exercises like jumping jacks.

Now the science behind the class, comes from a German trauma surgeon who used the apparatus as a rehab tool.

Dr Homayun Gharavi developed the sling trainer to help patient Anastasia Zueva, an injured professional athlete.

The device was used to aid Anastasia, who after therapy continued to win a world record.

As a physical therapy tool, if would seem that the appliance has many advantages.

The ability to move and perform comfortably although injured is a huge factor in the success of the 4D Pro, and many therapy based exercises are made easier while being suspended.

Obviously the equipment was not designed to be used in group exercise classes.

The fitness industry loves a new way packaging exercise, and this certainly ticks a few boxes.

Although we have yet to see whether anyone in the UK will pick up on the 4D Pro, a little research online will show you that the equipment is already available to buy for home use.

Finding a venue to use your 4D pro is always going to be the main consideration.
