Fergal gallops to success with sponsor

-

At just 10- years- old, this show jumper is preparing to put his best hoofs forward as he bids to qualify in the 177th Royal Highland Show.

Fergal Holohan, of Lochend Farm in Coylton, was surprised to receive new riding equipment from his new sponsor, Crocket Equestrian and Outdoor Centre.

And despite recently taking a tumble and breaking his collarbone, the youngster is defying all odds and is back in the saddle, preparing to gallop towards the top prize.

The Coylton Primary pupil will travel to Yorkshire this weekend to compete in the first leg of the contest, aiming to qualify and cross the finish line at the 2017 show, at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston this June.

Proud mum, Fiona Holohan, has been coaching Fergal since he was just five.

On the donation, she said: “What a lovely donation from Crockets. It is such a kind thing to do for Fergal. A big thank you goes to them for their kind sponsorship.

“We rushed him to the hospital after one of the ponies fell on top of him, he was devastated when he found out he had broken his collarbone so it’s astonishing how quick his recovery has been since the incident three weeks ago.

“Despite his injury, he’s been so determined to get back on the horse and continue training.

“He is so excited to compete. I am so proud of him.”

On the donation, Crocket Equestrian co- owner, Lisa McConville added: “I knew I wanted to support Fergal because he’s got a huge amount of talent and is a kind rider which is unusual to find in a junior.

“He has a real talent and love for horses. The whole team here will be cheering him on.

“He is a young man destined for great things.”
