Music festival hits the high notes

The 92nd Ayrshire Music Festival is well and truly underway.

The festival began in Saturday with the dance events in Troon’s Walker Hall. Musical events started on Monday will take place over March 17 at Ayr Town Hall and Council Chambers, while speech and drama events will run next Wednesday and Thursday, March 15– 16, at Ayr Baptist Church Centre.

It aims to represent the range of performing arts locally, raise the quality of performanc­e and create the performers and audiences of the future. Entry to all events can be obtained through a season ticket, costing £ 10.

Prices for admission per session are: Speech and drama at Ayr Baptist Church Centre, £ 2; Music, Ayr Town Hall Council Chamber, £ 2; Orchestral night, on Saturday, March 11, at 6.30pm in Ayr Town Hall, £ 5; Anything Goes, Saturday, March 11, in Ayr Town Hall, free.

Senior citizens are entitled to admission at half price, with the exception of the orchestral evening. School pupils and children of preschool age are entitled to admission free of charge, including the orchestral evening.
