Fair Eye exhibition has docked at Maritime Museum
A photography exhibition offering a captivating and detailed perspective on the historic vessels and engineering in the Scottish Maritime Museum on the Harbourside in Irvine is now open.
The Fair Eye exhibition, which is a collaboration between the Scottish Maritime Museum and Ayrshire College, will be on show in the museum’s Linthouse until Friday March 24.
National Certificate and Higher National Certificate photography students at Ayrshire College campuses in Ayr and Kilwinning created the 20 selected images on show as they worked to the brief of ‘ Shapes and Textures’.
The name ‘ The Fair Eye’ was chosen for the exhibition as it refers to both the skill of master shipbuilders when checking the lines of a boat and the photographer’s eye. The riveting images zoom in on a fragment of a vessel or exhibit giving a new dimension, depth and appreciation of their construction and design.
Claire Munro, learning and access officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum, said: “We are thrilled to open The Fair Eye exhibition in collaboration with Ayrshire College.
“The images the students have created bring a unique perspective to the amazing pieces of our maritime heritage on show across the Museum. They show, in great detail, the craftsmanship and engineering skills of their creators.”
