-

A drunk who roared vile threats at police officers escaped jail.

Ryan Wright, 23, told officers that he knew where their familieslived– andthathewould slit their throats.

His outburst happened at one in the morning, on Prestwick’s Main Street in December.

Hefirstattractedtheattention of officers when he shouted abuse from across the street.

And they caught up with him soon after when he attempted to fight a door steward at top nightspot Elliots – swearing and branding the bouncer a “grassing b***** d.”

When police attempted to arrest them he roared at them: “I don’t care, jail me – I’ll murder every one.”

His defence lawyer said: “He tells me at the time of the offence his mental health was not good.

“Hehadanamountofalcohol, he tells me. He is fully accepting of his actions.

“Since this offence he has been working closely with a community psychiatric nurse.”

Sheriff Mhairi Mactaggart sentenced Wright, of Obree Avenue, Prestwick, to18months of supervision, as well as 100 hours of unpaid work.

She said: “I’ve noticed from your record that you’ve had two opportunities on a community payback order. You are running out of chances.”
