French battle
As the centenary of the “Offensive du Chemin des Dames” or Second Battle of the Aisne ( April- May 1917) approaches, Troon Town Twinning Association is hosting a talk on this important campaign of WWI in north- east France.
Following the success of last year’s talk on the subject of The Auld Alliance, Patrick Landri – a historian based at the Alliance Française de Glasgow – will take us through the stages of this campaign and its long- term consequences, such as the rise of Marechal Petain.
It takes place this Friday, March 24 at 7.30pm in The Cabin, South Beach, Troon.
Entrance fee £ 2/ adult, free for children, includes tea and coffee.
All welcome.
