Kirk was a secret quiz weapon
Many years ago – in a previous life – I was invited to take an Ayrshire Post quiz team to Ayr Rugby Club for a fund- raising night.
At that time, the “Post” had a formidable squad. Many of us made up the high flying Christina’s Bar pub quiz team.
So we arrived at Millbrae brimming with confidence . . . and many of the team were already brimming with lager!
We thought we just had to turn up – but another team had other ideas.
And they were captained by a smiling assassin who seemed to know everything . . . about anything.
He could have won the quiz by himself.
“Who is this guy . . ?” we kept asking ourselves.
It turned out his name was Kirk Murdoch. And not only was he smarter than the average bear – he could play rugby too!
I was saddened to read of his passing last week at the age of just 62.
Millbrae has lost another stalwart and my thoughts are with his many friends and family.
