Eleana out of top drawer
Eleana Meikle, an S3 pupil from Wellington School in Ayr, has been awarded second prize in this year’s John Byrne National Drawing Competition.
Thousands of budding young artists from across Scotland took part in this year’s John Byrne National Drawing Competition, which is run in partnership with Education Scotland and opened to pupils from primary four through to third year.
It was an astonishing success for talented Eleana.
John Byrne said: “The talent this year has been outstanding which made my job as a judge very difficult in choosing the overall winners.
“I’m delighted to have awarded Eleana second place. Her artwork caught my eye during the judging process and I was really impressed by her creativity.”
The award ceremony took place at Paisley Museum, where a special exhibition of competition entries are on display for approximately five weeks.
John and the judges selected 30 young artists as runners up including Kacey Gray, in p7 at Auchinleck Primary, megan Gemmill, in third year at Auchinleck Academy, Ruby Capon, S1, and Myah Neilson, S3, both Wellington.
