Vukovi debut is real winner

-

It’s fantastic to see Ayrshire’s Vukovi gain recognition and plaudits across UK and beyond as they embarked on a tour to promote the release of their self- titled debut album.

The band have been up and down the country to promote the record and it’s been amazing to see them blow up with features in music magazines including Kerrang, on BBC Radio 1’ s Rock Show with Daniel P Carter and an invitation to perform on Facebook Live which saw them take a Q& A session between performing tracks.

I think there’s been a real knowing amongst many that Vukovi have always been a band who are going to break. It looks like that time may well be now. Currently sitting at No 2 in the iTunes Rock Chart, tremendous stuff indeed! You can buy the album from iTunes and all other online stockists. Catch Vukovi in Edinburgh on May 24. www. vukovi. co. uk

There are a few tickets left remaining for Viva La Ciardo on Saturday, April 22 at Ayr Town Hall. The event dedicated to the life of Ciar McPherson, a brilliant young guy who was much loved and had much love for life.

The all day gig at Ayr Town Hall will celebrate his life with many of his favourite bands from the local music community paying tribute to Ciar and to raise funds towards SAMH ( Scottish Association for Mental Health).

The line- up for the event is Big Fat Panda, Seaside Sons, Soldier On, The Beat Movement, The Kinks Experience, The Ranzas, The Tripps, The Blue Lenas, Pelikan Rogue, Garry Holland, The Kleptocrats, Revolver, the All or Nothing DJ’S and just announced Andrew J Metcalfe formerly of Sound Of Guns. I was proud of my wee brother who scored a first for his fiddle recital at the Ayrshire Music Awards which saw schools coming together from all over Ayrshire to perform at the 92nd annual Ayrshire Music Awards.

I was blown away by the professionalism, talent and good grace of so many of the young musicians and it’s safe to say that the future of music talent in Ayrshire is very bright indeed. A huge deal of recognition has to go to the teaching staff across Ayrshire.

Saturday, April 15 will see the launch of new special music night at Sound Magic Studios, Waggon Road, Ayr with the launch of the Y2K Project. This night is all about bringing music from the late 90s and early 00s under one roof on the same night and should be a cracker.

Bringing Trance, Hip- Hop, Indie, Rock, House and Techno together under one roof, this looks to be a fun night. Line- up includes Public Domain ( James Allan DJ Set), Ewan Richardson ( Paradox Classics), Brian Murphy, Richard Bryden, Bemz ( Exclusive Mix Tape Launch), DJ Keta, Jardi & U1, Jamie Moore, Vinny & Steven Cuthbert, Mark Jewell and more. There’s even an unplugged music area which will feature performances from The Schemes, Rikki McKay & Paul McGinn, Aiden Davidson, Calling All, Savalas and Seaside Sons. 7pm, £ 5.

I head off to New York in two weeks for Tartan Week and look forward to sharing the word about the fantastic music and culture that Ayrshire has to offer whilst I’m over there. There’s certainly no place like home. Until next week, Stay positive. @ LittleFire
