Zumba ladies have a good laugh with Peter Kay

-

Zumba ladies were the star of the show at The Hydro on Friday.

Fiona Young led fourteen dancers on stage at the 12,000- seater Glasgow venue for Peter Kay’s Dance for Life.

The movers and shakers from the Zumba Gold group at Prestwick North Church were the only group invited on stage with the comedy superstar and his crew.

She said: “We arrived in the afternoon and had to rehearse at 3.30pm on stage for the three- hour non- stop dance for life.

“It was like a big rave. We were the only folk on stage apart from them and the crew so we were so, so lucky.

“It was in and out for us all. It was all a bit of a whirlwind but it was amazing.”

A hillarious video shared on YouTube shows the ladies joined by Peter Kay on stage – and he even mimicked Eurovision legends Bucks Fizz when he whips Diane Nicholson’s skirt off!

Fiona added: “Peter wasn’t there for the rehearsal. He just came before us – he was really nice to us.

“He’s a great guy, it was great fun.”

Fiona hopes the Zumba Gold ladies can return if Peter Kay brings his Dance for Life show back to Glasgow next year.

The dance troupe are still coming down from cloud nine after performing alongside one of the UK’s most popular stage acts.

Fiona said: “I used to be a rofessional dancer but for the ladies it was just totally nuts.

“The biggest thing they’ve done is a yearly dance on Prestwick promenade!”

The group have already raised more than £ 900 through their own JustGiving page, to join money raised by the Peter Kay show for Cancer Research UK.
