Agricultur­e giant takes Ayr site

Carlisle- based farming products and services provider Carrs Billington Agricultur­e has announced the takeover of Horse and Pet Warehouse Ltd, Ayr.

Carrs Billington Agricultur­e ( Sales) has bought the entire issued share capital of the Ayrshire pet and equine supplier.

The newly acquired company will be incorporat­ed into the group as a Carrs Billington Country Store.

Carrs Billington already have a small retail unit at Ayr livestock market that was part of the former Reid & Robertson operations.

It was acquired by Carrs Billington in May 2015.

The new site will further enhance their reach into western Scotland and provide a platform to further support the farming community and their wider operations in Scotland.

Rae Tomlinson, managing director of Carrs Billington, said: This acquisitio­n is another great step forward for Carrs Billington and I am thrilled with Carrs Billington developmen­t Scotland.”

He added: “This addition will contribute to the ongoing expansion and success of the business.”

Carrs Billington Agricultur­e ( Sales) Ltd operates a network of 32 Country Stores with seven Sub- Stores throughout the north of England and southern Scotland.

Carrs Billington are main agents for Massey Ferguson, Fendt, Krone, Kuhn and Yamaha through their machinery depots.

They also operate eight sites in their fuel division, supplying home heating oil and agricultur­al fuel in North England and south west Scotland.
